Black History Month
Councilwoman for Volusia County Council District 1
I wanted to recognize strong, passionate women leaders in our community and there happens to be many women of color that fit this label, so February being Black History Month, seems like an appropriate time to do so.
Barb Girtman was my first choice because she is a devoted follower and member of Faith Life International Church in Deland. We share similar beliefs and she inspires me to persevere.
Barbara Girtman, a Multi-Million Dollar Real Estate Sales Professional at Bee Realty Corp is a leader who focuses on advocating for civic engagement and business opportunities in Volusia County.
Twice elected as a Commissioner for the West Volusia Hospital Authority, Barb has been recognized for her civic and business engagement efforts with a West Volusia NAACP President’s,John Knox Village, and DeLand Areas Chamber Civic Engagement Awards and the News Journal Influential
She volunteers on the board for the Rotary Club of Deland, Beacon News and the Greater Union Life Center a religious-based community nonprofit organization. She is also an appointed member of the City of DeLand’s Economic Development Committee and serves on several Strategic Planning Committees.
