DELTONA, Fla–Sheriff Mike Chitwood has announced that he is endorsing Dolores Guzman for Florida State House District 27 on Tuesday.
Chitwood, who was reelected earlier this year without opposition, is widely regarded as the most popular elected official in the county. Though the sheriff’s race is newly partisan, Chitwood remained unaffiliated and endorsed a nearly undefeated slate of twelve candidates from both sides of the aisle in August.
This isn’t the first time Guzman and Chitwood have teamed up. Chitwood has made the health department information surrounding COVID-19 more available. Guzman translated this crucial information for the tens of thousands of Volusia County Spanish speaking residents. And this Friday, Ms. Guzman will go on a ride along with law enforcement and see first hand a small portion of an average day.
“Sheriff Chitwood is a strong advocate for our area. He is committed to getting rid of corruption and holding our leaders accountable. I am proud to have his support to go to Tallahassee to fight for everyday people,” Guzman stated. “I will bring the same level of transparency and care to the state house that he has the Volusia County Sheriff’s office.”
